GLSEN New York Capital Region works to ensure that all LGBTQ+ K-12 youth are protected, supported, included, and empowered in their schools, point blank. Through each of these core components, we are able to support public and private schools in all eight counties that make up the Capital Region and teach school administrators, teachers, librarians, and staff alike how to be an informed ally to their LGBTQ+ K-12 students.
We provide industry-specific career education, coaching, mentoring and sponsorship services for un/underemployed rising young professionals and entrepreneurs seeking to work in four key industries: construction, fashion, event planning, or social entrepreneurship.
We provide free one-to-one literacy tutoring to elementary school-age children of the South End of Albany.
We lead school gardening programs at Albany schools, focusing particularly on building connections with kids who are not thriving in school and who could benefit from adult connections and experiences in and with nature.
